Vaccinations have sparked emotions for years. Supporters emphasize that herd immunity also protects those who cannot be vaccinated. Opponents point to the risk of adverse effects, the lack of full transparency in research, and concerns that mandates serve the interests of pharmaceutical corporations. In many Western countries, vaccinations are recommended, while in some Eastern European states children must receive a dozen or more mandatory doses. Is this a difference in public health policy, or a sign that the eastern part of the continent is a testing ground?
